- Eskom, government and the National Energy Regulator are committed to implementing a national energy response plan.

- Their objective is to implement 1 million solar geysers in the next 4 years.
- As part of the programme to promote solar water heating in South Africa, Eskom is offering a rebate to all customers who install solar water heating through an Eskom accredited and SABS approved supplier.
- In order to be eligible for the rebate, a solar water heater system will be checked against a set of criteria.
- The value of the rebate applicable to any participating solar water heater is based on the capability of the system to replace the use of electrical energy.
